Mores are the rules of a place that were never written down and are enforced anyway. Nobody hands you a sheet on your first day saying which chair is not yours, how loudly people talk in that corridor, or whether the boss is called by their first name. You find out by getting one of them slightly wrong and watching the room. The word is the Latin for customs, and it is the same root that gives us moral — which is the useful part: mores are what a group treats as right, whether or not it has anything to do with right and wrong. It is always plural. There is no single more.
