whimsical

A whim is a wish that arrives with no reason attached, and whimsical is what something looks like when a whim was allowed to win. The drawing is a small masterclass in the word: a stern man in a long coat, walking with perfect seriousness, and on the end of the lead is a pink balloon poodle. Neither half is whimsical alone. The word lives in the gap between them — the ordinary world carrying on around one decision that nobody can account for. Keep the delight in it.
