Five Topics, Over and Over

The same five subjects come up in almost every IELTS test. Here is what having the words for them actually gets you.

The same five subjects, every time

Look at any set of IELTS questions — Task 2, Speaking Part 3, Listening Section 4 — and the topics repeat:

the environment · technology · health · education · work and money

That is not a coincidence. They are the subjects an international test can assume every candidate has some experience of, whatever country they are from.

So the vocabulary for these five is worth more than vocabulary for anything else. You will use it in every part of the test, and probably more than once.
