As an associate at BB News Corp, I was in charge of managing our social media strategy. My responsibility was to ensure the wide distribution of our stories across various platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
One of the strategies we used was audience segmentation, distributing content based on the platform’s demographics. For example, infographics and shorter video segments performed well with the younger audience on Instagram while think pieces and investigative journalism received better engagement on Facebook and Twitter.
To boost engagement, we utilized peak posting times, regular user engagement through comments and shares, and paid promotions for certain high-priority news. We also employed A/B testing to refine our headlines and visuals. We used metrics like reach, click-through rates, and engagement scores to measure our success and recalibrate our strategies as needed.
As a result, over the course of a year, we achieved a record 30% increase in our social media readership which consequently increased our overall audience base significantly.
