Here's what nobody tells you about economics: it isn't actually about money at all. If we wanted to, we could print an infinite amount of paper cash tomorrow, but we still couldn't give everyone a mansion and a private jet. Your instinct might be that poverty is just a lack of money, but it's deeper than that.

The stuff we use to build things—metal, wood, energy, and most importantly, our time—is stubbornly finite. You can't print a new hour in the day or magically summon more atoms of steel out of thin air. This clash between infinite human desires and finite physical reality is what we call Scarcity.

If we can't just print our way to infinite stuff, what do you think actually decides who gets the limited resources we do have?
