Here's what nobody tells you about science: being a great scientist often means knowing exactly what to ignore. Your instinct is probably that to understand the world perfectly, we need to track every single atom, every gust of wind, and every tiny detail. But if you try to catch a cricket ball hit for a six, do you need to know the brand of the bat or the exact color of the ball? Of course not! We build 'models' by deliberately throwing away the complicated stuff that doesn't matter, so we can see the hidden patterns that do. What's a detail you would completely ignore if you were trying to figure out how long it takes to ride a bicycle from your house to school?
