In my two years working as a design engineer at Turbomach Structures, I have been an integral part of many mechanical engineering design processes. One of our notable projects involved designing an efficient cooling fan blade system for industrial use.
I was involved right from the initial concept development: shadowing senior engineers, doing feasibility assessments, using tools like SolidWorks for design detailing, and working closely with manufacturing team for rapid prototyping.
During this process, we faced challenges in manufacturing detailed parts of the fan but, via constructive brainstorming and some design modifications, we overcame the obstacles. Upon completion, the final design showed a 20% increase in cooling efficiency compared to previous models. The project highlighted how analytical thinking and iterative design processes, coupled with practical hands-on problem-solving, can create significant improvements in product design.
