In my role as a Structural Engineer at BuildRight Ltd., I have used multiple software tools for structural analysis on a regular basis. I am proficient with AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, and Tekla Structures, among others.
On one particular project, we were tasked with designing a new office building in a seismic-sensitive area. Our main challenge was to ensure the building's stability while adhering to stringent design requirements and safety guidelines. To overcome this, I used SAP2000 for detailed structural modelling, incorporating the necessary parameters to simulate the effects of seismic activity on the building.
Additionally, I used ETABS to perform advanced seismic analysis, allowing us to understand response spectra and record key safety factors. These tools worked in conjunction, providing us with a comprehensive report of the structural integrity of our design. The well-coordinated use of these software applications led to successful completion of our project, ensuring our designs were within safe and permissible limits for seismic stresses.
