As a teacher at XYZ Middle School for the past two years, I have implemented several techniques to create a conducive learning environment and engage students. A major part of my classroom management strategy involves setting a positive tone from the start via CTA (Call to Action), a technique I've adopted that establishes explicit norms and expectations, fosters a respectful learning environment, and ensures smooth transitions between activities.
For instance, to engage students during a History lesson on Ancient Egypt, I had my students participate in a project-based learning activity where they created their own virtual museum exhibits. They used online tools, including Google Arts & Culture, and integrated art, history, and technology. This evidently sparked their excitement about the subject matter, which resulted in not just high-quality projects, but notably, an increase in students' participation and eagerness to learn.
