In my role as a Database Administrator at XYZ Corp, I've regularly employed Amazon RDS to manage our company's relational databases. A distinctive project was upgrading our legacy digital asset management system which required a comprehensive data migration.
In planning this migration, we opted for Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, primarily because of its compatibility with several extensions we were using and its capacity to scale for our growing data needs. I was responsible for setting up our RDS instance, optimizing performance settings, and configuring automated backups for disaster recovery. We faced challenges with database indexing and query performance, but by leveraging RDS features like Performance Insights and Query Analysis, we were able to significantly improve our database response times.
