A singularity is a point where the normal rules stop working. In physics it is the infinite density at a black hole's core; in technology, the singularity is the predicted moment when machine intelligence improves itself faster than humans can follow, so that nothing beyond it can be known. In the animation, a simple calculator hums, sprouts glowing circuitry, and quietly swallows the entire room.
