schadenfreude
Schadenfreude is the guilty little joy you feel when something bad happens to someone else. It is German: Schaden, harm, and Freude, joy. It is for small bad luck, best when they had it coming — not real cruelty, and nobody badly hurt. The proud neighbour's barbecue catches fire, and you try not to smile. In the animation, a man shows off a huge cake, falls, and the couple watching can't stop laughing.
