resilient

Resilient does not mean hard — it is built from to leap back, and a thing can only leap back if it bent first. A steel bar is strong; a spring is resilient. A resilient person is not the one nothing touches, but the one who takes the hit, goes all the way down, and comes back to their own shape. In the animation, a fly swatter has come down on a cockroach — and the cockroach is still standing on it, smiling.
