peripheral

Peripheral describes what sits on the outer rim of vision, focus, or importance, away from the central action. From Greek periphereia, circumference. It is the subtle detail caught in the corner of your eye while everyone else looks straight ahead. In the animation, a figure focused ahead suddenly glances sideways as a shadow shifts at the edge of the frame.
