lullaby

A lullaby is a song with a job. Most songs want you awake; this one wants the opposite, so everything about it is slow, quiet and repetitive, going nowhere on purpose. The name comes from the work itself: lull, to calm, plus the bye said over a cradle. Any song can be sung softly; a lullaby is one written to end in sleep. In the animation, a father holds a baby that is also a musical note.
