languor

Languor (say LANG-ger) is a slow, heavy, pleasant tiredness: the body is happy to do nothing at all. It comes from Latin languere, to be faint. Hot afternoons, long lunches and lazy holidays are full of languor. It is softer than exhaustion and sweeter than boredom: nobody wants to escape it. In the animation, a hammock sags so low that it melts into a smiling puddle.
