indomitable

Indomitable means it cannot be tamed — and taming is not the same as defeating. You tame a thing by wearing it down until it stops trying, and an indomitable spirit refuses to stop. It may lose, repeatedly, and still not be tamed, which is why the word attaches to spirit, will and courage. In the animation, a cockroach plants a flag on top of a can of bug spray.
