hegemony

Hegemony is leadership so large that others follow without being made to. A country with hegemony doesn't need to invade: its money, its films, its language and its rules are already everywhere, and smaller countries fit themselves around them. It works through influence and habit, not force. It is used for companies too, and for ideas. In the animation, a giant walks a road while small figures step inside his shadow.
