Elysian describes a peace so perfect it feels borrowed from heaven. The word comes from Elysium, the paradise in Greek myth where heroes went after life: golden fields, soft light, no sorrow. An elysian afternoon or an elysian calm is more than pleasant; it is bliss that seems too complete for this world. In the animation, a man floats in mid-air, blissfully asleep on a golden halo used as a pillow.
