bewitching

To call something bewitching is to say it casts an effortless spell. The word comes from old English for placing someone under a witch's charm, but today it has nothing to do with cauldrons: it means a quiet, irresistible delight. A singer can have a bewitching voice; a coastal town can have a bewitching twilight that makes travellers cancel tomorrow's train. In the animation, teal butterflies swirl around a woman as if caught in her spell.
