alter ego

An alter ego is a second self: another version of you, with a different style, voice or name. It is Latin for the other I. Superheroes have them; so do singers with stage names, and shy people who turn brave online. Both selves belong to one person — an alter ego is not a twin or a stranger. In the animation, a man stands still while his shadow takes on a shape of its own.
