Shimmer

Soft, wavering light that seems to move

Light That Dances

Sunlight on water. Silk catching the light. A pearl's soft glow. These surfaces shimmer—they shine with a soft, wavering light that seems to move.

Unlike a steady beam, a shimmer trembles and shifts. It's light that breathes, pulses, and plays across a surface.

Day and Night Sky Objects

Explore the celestial bodies visible during day and night.

Day and Night Sky Objects

Have you ever looked up at the sky and wondered what you can see? The sky changes a lot between day and night. Let's explore the amazing things above us!

Important: Never look directly at the Sun. It can seriously harm your eyes.

What We See During the Day

During the day, the Sun is the brightest object. It fills the sky with light. Sometimes, you can also see the Moon in the daytime sky. The Sun seems to move across the sky. It appears to rise in the east and set in the west.

Why the Sun Seems to Move

The Sun's movement is not real. It only appears to move. This happens because our Earth is always spinning. The Earth rotates from west to east. This spin makes the Sun seem to travel from east to west across our sky.

Morning and Evening Stars

Sometimes, you can spot certain planets during the day. Mercury and Venus are two such planets. You might see them very low near the horizon. This happens in the early morning or evening. That's why they are called morning stars or evening stars.

What We See at Night

When the Sun sets, the Moon becomes the brightest object. It is easy to recognize. Besides the Moon, you can see countless stars. You can also see other planets shining in the dark night sky.

Planets You Can See at Night

Venus is the brightest planet we see at night. It shines very brightly after the Sun and Moon. You can also see Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn with your eyes. Other planets are too far away. We need powerful telescopes to see them.
