As an Associate Electronic Engineer at Orion Technologies, one of my core responsibilities included managing the thermal aspects of our products.
A particularly challenging project involved designing a thermal management solution for a high-performance server system. The high heat output by the multiple processors required an innovative solution to prevent overheating while maintaining the compact form factor. We used SolidWorks and MATLAB for heat flow simulations and to devise a liquid cooling system, supplementing the traditional air cooling methods.
The introduction of this hybrid cooling technique reduced average processor temperatures by nearly 15%. The improvements in thermal efficiency allowed our firm to increase processor clock speeds without the risk of overheating, leading to enhanced server performance.
