Currently, as a Materials Engineer at EcoStart Products, I am extensively involved in the development and improvement of eco-friendly plastic containers. A notable project was the redesign of our flagship food storage container series, where my role was primarily in the materials selection and testing phases.
We used a blend of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polystyrene (PS) to strike a balance between rigidity, heat resistance, and cost. I conducted rigorous tests using SolidWorks Simulation to ensure the new design met all safety standards while performing well under typical usage conditions. Following our redesign, the product exhibited increased heat resilience and improved sealing functionality, reducing customer complaints by 30%. Meanwhile, the optimized plastic blend led to a reduction in raw material costs by 10%, which boosted our profit margin for this product line.
