As a junior reporter at MediaStream, I had the opportunity to experiment with mobile journalism while covering local news events. One memorable assignment was reporting on the annual city marathon using only my smartphone.
To tell an engaging story, I started by outlining the narrative and key points I wanted to cover. I used social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter for real-time updates, thereby using their native features, such as Insta stories and live tweets, to effectively share moments from the marathon.
Using my iPhone 11, I filmed different segments of the race - shots of participants, happy spectators, and a few interviews with volunteers and runners. I utilized the Mojo editing app to stitch together the story, maintaining a fast-paced narrative that mobile viewers appreciate. Engaging captions and compelling visuals were key to holding viewers' attention.
This process delivered a comprehensive, multi-dimensional report of the event, garnering high views and shares on our social media platforms. It reinforced the power of mobile journalism and the importance of adapting to technology changes in delivering news.
