At my current position as an IT consultant, integrating various business tools has been a major aspect of my role. My most notable project involved integrating QuickBooks with Microsoft Power BI for a client seeking enhanced data analysis capabilities.
We used the QuickBooks Online API to extract financial data and export it directly into Power BI. I utilized the Power Automate tool from Microsoft to create workflows that allowed for automated data transfers at regular intervals. Furthermore, we used Power BI's own features to create several dashboards that gave the client much-needed insight into their financials, such as cash flow trends, income breakdowns, and detailed expense reports.
The result was a powerful, real-time visual representation of the client's financial data, which allowed them to make much more defined strategic decisions. This integration project not only provided the client with a valuable business tool but it also further solidified my skills in integrating disparate tools to create more efficient business processes.
