In my role as an Educational Programs Officer at Instituto Cultural de Bahía, I had the opportunity to collaborate in shaping our language learning policy. As part of a cross-functional team, our task was to devise a strategy that promotes foreign language learning across all grade levels, with an emphasis on English.
Our process involved extensive research on best practices, collecting feedback from faculty and students, and careful planning for implementation. I contributed to the policy design, especially framing strategies to promote student engagement with foreign languages. We faced challenges in terms of resistance from some teachers, however, we mitigated this by organizing extensive training and support programs.
Post-implementation, a significant growth in student interest in language learning was recorded, with an observed increase in enrollment in our foreign language clubs. This achievement underscored the power of effective educational policies in driving meaningful change in educational settings.
