As a Data Analyst at DataEclectic, I've worked with big data consistently in my role. A notable project was when our team provided an analytical solution for a large insurance company looking to refine their risk assessment strategy. We worked with a massive dataset that included customer demographics, insurance claim history, and health data.
My role was to manage and analyze this data using Apache Hadoop for processing and Python with PySpark for analytical calculations. I used various machine learning algorithms to create predictive models based on the data. The key output of this project was a more sophisticated risk assessment model that took into consideration multiple variables at a granular level.
Supported by our analytics, the client was able to restructure their premium policies, notably decreasing their financial exposure by aligning premium with risk more effectively. This project truly demonstrated the immense value that big data analytics can provide in enhancing business decision-making processes.
